  *The Promise of Communion

P:  Sisters and Brothers, it is important to properly prepare and understand Holy Communion.

C:  Holy Communion is the body and blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ, received in and under the earthly elements and instituted by Christ himself.  The benefit of Holy Communion is pointed out in Christ’s words, “Given and shed for you, for the forgiveness of sins.”  Through these words the forgiveness of sin, life and salvation are given to us in the sacrament; for where there is forgiveness of sin, there is also reconciliation with God and with one another.

*Confession and Forgiveness

P:  Let us all come near to God and confess our sin and ask for forgiveness in the name of Jesus. The Lord is merciful and will keep His promise to forgive our sin.

    Let us pray.

C: Gracious Lord, I confess my sins, known and unknown, and my decisions to not follow where you are leading me. I believe that without your mercy I am lost. Please wash away all my sins, I ask for your forgiveness.

P: Hear the Good News…Jesus forgives you! God sent Jesus to us and His plan was fulfilled when Jesus died on the cross for all our sins and then conquered death, giving those who believe in Him everlasting life. Jesus continues to call the unbelieving to turn to Him and repent and believe while there is still time.

C:  Amen

A WARM WELCOME TO ALL who are worshiping with us today.  If you are visiting, please fill out a pew card or back of the bulletin and place in the offering plate.

Parents/Newcomers:  You will find red/blue "Quiet Bags" in the nursery for our young worshipers to enjoy. The nursery also has a restroom, and the changing table is stocked with diapers for your use. The nursery is directly behind the sanctuary.

Holy Communion: We believe that Holy Communion is the body and blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ. It is received in and under the earthly elements of bread and wine. We welcome all baptized Christians who believe our Lord’s words: “given and shed for you for the forgiveness of sins” to come and receive the Lord’s Supper. White grape juice is also available. If you have mobility concerns, you may receive communion in your pew, please get an usher’s attention and they will let the Pastor know. If you are not yet baptized, we encourage you to come forward and receive a blessing. The gifts of God for the people of God.

We are committed to being rooted in the Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions while working to fulfill Christ’s Great Commission to go and make disciples of all nations. We have a great respect for the reality that the church is where the people of God gather together around Word and Sacrament and then go forth to live as witnesses to His love and mercy.
