About Our Church

Badger Lutheran is a small town congregation of people of all ages.

Our mission is to build a relationship with God – Reach Up.

Build a relationship with our fellow Christians – Reach In.

Build a relationship with our community and our world – Reach Out.

We are affiliated with Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC), an international fellowship of congregations that focus on the authority of God’s Holy Word and the desire to spread the Good News of the Gospel to all both near and far.

HISTORY

Badger Lutheran Church can trace its roots back to the Norwegian Lutherans who first came to this area over 150 years ago.  They plowed the prairie, tiled the land and founded a church to call their own. A log house built by Tom Chantland served as the first church building in the 1860s but was burned in a fire in 1871.  The new congregation then met in school buildings until a new wood frame church was built a mile north of Badger in 1879.  In a few years this building was moved into Badger across the street east of the present building. After additions were added to it, the congregation finally outgrew and began building the current building in the 1940s and was dedicated in 1949.

The members of this church intend to be disciples of Jesus who are thankful for the vision of church leaders and pastors and participants who established this congregation of Christian Lutherans.

We continue to pray that God would lead and guide us in His Mission as we pray and worship and sing and serve through the years.

WHAT DO WE BELIEVE?

We at Badger Lutheran Church believe, teach and confess that God’s Word is eternal and unchanging. We believe that God’s Word is revealed to us both in the Word (The Bible, both Old and New Testament) and the  Sacraments (Baptism and Holy Communion). We believe that God’s Word is the sole foundation of our faith.

We believe, teach and confess that our congregation is anchored in the one holy, Christian and apostolic church and the Lutheran Confessions.  We are saved by Grace Alone, through Faith Alone, Because of Christ Alone.

We believe we are members of a church that reaches far back beyond the reformer Martin Luther, to the apostles.  We hold to the doctrinal tenets expressed in the historic creeds and confessions as set down by the Lutheran reformers in the Book of Concord, 1580 A.D. which we believe are true interpretations of the Holy Scriptures. As Lutherans we believe that our heritage of reformation calls us to work diligently for the continuation of that reform and the unity of Christ’s church.

We believe, teach and confess that through Baptism, God calls us to be members of the Body of Christ: the Church. We believe in the Real Presence of Christ in the Holy Communion.  We believe that in Holy Communion, Christ gives us the gift of forgiveness for our sins and that by this Sacrament of the Altar, Christ nourishes and strengthens us to love and serve God by loving and serving our neighbor in our family and community. In these ways, Christ is preparing us for both daily life in this world and for eternal life with Him in the life of the world to come.

We believe, teach and confess that the life of faith begun in Baptism, nourished in the weekly communion and marked by prayer, service to those in need and study, is the greatest adventure that life has to offer.

Welcome to Badger Lutheran Church!

Everyone is welcome to attend our Sunday morning worship services and any of our weekly activities. After you have worshipped with us for a while, you may feel the Lord is calling you to become a part of this congregation.

Badger Lutheran puts a high value on membership!  When we get to know potential new members, we cover the following:  Core Christian Beliefs, What "Lutheran" means, and the DNA of Badger Lutheran as a local congregation. Voting at Congregational Meetings and serving on a commission or council requires that an individual is an active member.

Similar things will be covered with transfer members, but it might look different depending on your past church experiences and background.

If you are interested in joining, or if you have questions about the process, Badger Lutheran's beliefs, or anything else, don't hesitate to contact Pastor Scott Meier
